Secrets To Impressing Recruiters
How do you answer this question? Do they want to hear something funny? Should you go personal? Suppose you don't have anything much to share, after all aren't your qualifications enough? Well it doesn't seem so because they are all rocked back in their chairs and eagerly looking at you.
To an employer who is viewing a list of scores of persons who are all technically competent this open ended question to share something about yourself means that they are looking for something more. What separates you from the pack? Many applicants do not consider this until its too late but being well rounded and having interests outside your area of professional expertise can be an asset.
1. Showing Social Interation Skills that crosses Cultural Differences - If you are looking to join an organization that is global or seeking to expand globally then this will definitely be an asset. Of course being a volounteer who travelled across the world to perform charity would be ideal but this may be unlikely for a lot of people. Studying a new language or even being able to comfortably discuss world events can showcase your intellect and openess to diversity all the same.
2. Showing Emotional Maturity - No one wants an employee that's destined to bring drama to the work place and this is where you may discuss something that you consider to have been critical to your growth and personal development. A really good example could be discussing briefly the lessons learnt from experiencing defeat. If you were invloved in a team sport or the debating society at college then using an example of emotional maturity in one of these areas also helps to showcase you as being well-rounded.
3. Showing Passion For the Job - Of course at the end of the day, you are on a job interview and you are trying to market yourself. Giving an idea of how your passion for this field (within which you are applying) was developed or honed is certainly advantageous. Maybe your passion started as a child, maybe some life-altering event gave you your focus. Leave the interviewing panel with a reason to remember you long after you have left the room. Just be honest and real and they will sense your sincerity.

Negative People to Avoid On The Job
- The Gossipers - While rumours and scandalous news about other co-workers seem to be their speciality, the fact is they just love talking about other people. No one likes to be discussed behind their back and to be truthful it's only a matter of time before they are discussing you. Always encourage a high degree professionalism and try to keep your conversations with these people work related. If everyone in the office takes this approach then the gossiping must inevitably stop as gossipers need listeners!
- The Complainers - They complain about their job, the boss, the work conditions and just about every and anything but they never have any suggestions for improvement or any proactive contributions to make. These people are heavy and you do not need these people to be pulling down your enthusiasm for the job. Again maintain professional relationships with these people and keep your discussions on work deliverables or neutral topics as far as possible.
"Birds of a feather flock together" - some people are content to scratch at the ground while others are looking to soar. Link yourself to positive people and try to exude positivity yourself and you will surely soar to new heights.

Need a Job?
"Boy do I need a job!"
"Oh God please help me - I need a job!"
If on a daily basis the pressing need for a job regularly impresses itself upon your mind then read on for some advice that is straight from the heart. They are summarised below in five tips:
1. Stop Worrying
Yes - I know it may seem hard to stop worrying especially when the bills keep coming and your disposable cash is being depleted but there are many psychologists who would tell you that worrying does not add anything to your situation. And as a matter of fact, it detracts from your ability to think straight and make logical decisions. So if something is not adding to your life and may actually be adversely affecting it then you need to put it away from yourself.
Every day when you awake tell yourself that you will either find a job or create a way to make money. You will get through this time of your life and you will live to tell the story.
You must believe in order to receive.
2. Keep on Applying
So you've joined every possible job board site and posted your resume all over the web. You have applied to classifieds in the papers and called companies directly for job offers and you have not gotten one favorable response. The worst thing you can do now is to stop trying. A resume filed away is better than one that does not exist. Who knows you may get a call back? Or the next job listing may just be the one for you? You have to keep trying.
3. Get busy with other things in your life
While you must keep applying if you want a job, you must also keep busy in other areas of your life. Who knows that party that your cousin asked you to help her with just might be the place where you find the 'link up' to a very promising employer. And even if it does not, you just may find that you do not have that much time to worry. Also your feelings of self worth (which are necessary for a positive spirit) would be maintained or heightened as you extend yourself to others.
4. Think outside the box
Rememeber this truth - your aim in life is income security and not necessarily job security. Maybe you have been looking for a permanent job but a contract job comes along. Take it! One stepping stone usually leads you to somewhere else.
Also if you had been thinking about a low investment business plan - now just may be the time to go for it. At the end of the day you need money coming in.
If you can legitimately do something that brings a revenue but is not a standard job, even if it is small change at first, at the very least it will help keep the bill collectors at bay.
5. Cut out Unnecessary Spending
Finally try your best to keep away from unnecessary expenses. Speak to your children and help them to understand that sometimes in life we must prioritise. Things would not last this way forever. The only thing constant in life is change. Its amazing but most times the ones who need to learn this lesson first and foremost is ourselves.
So keep your head up and don't lose heart - the sun is shining on the other side of the clouds!

So You Want to Call in Sick Today?
Work, I believe, should enhance and add value to your life. And there is a lot more to life than work. Now you still need to decide what you are telling your boss however if your company has something called casual or business leave days, you can always call in and say that you have something to attend to. No one has to know that what you have to attend to is at home!
But here is another slant to this - is it possible that you are masking a silent but growing job dissatisfaction? Now this is very real and if you do some serious intropsection, you may realise that deep down inside you just are not happy to go to work because you are not happy with your work. You hear all the wonderful stories from people who tell you that they enjoy their job and look forward to it because they see it as a career (blah, blah, blah) BUT you do not feel that way about your job! For you work is something you drag yourself to and the dragging is especially harder to do after a weekend!
Well my friend, if this sounds like you, then you need to find your calling. You need to find your dream job and start contributing to your career which is that thing that you can see yourself doing for the rest of your life.
Don't wait until you are fired or have reached the breaking point to start looking at new job offerings. If you have recognised your problem then by all means start working towards a solution!

Work At Home Scams Make you pay for Free Stuff!
Reprinted here by author from my post on Share Your Expertise site:
Who would not want to be able to work from the comfort of their home and 'be their own boss'? My only problem is that I hate to see people pay money for what is free. Forgive me for a lengthy post but I am hoping that this information may be used by someone in the future. You see many of these type at home opportunities generally offer you the following:
1. Information on how to create a Google Adsense account -
Not only is a Google Adsense account sign up free but Google themselves give you information on how to get an account. The most important thing is that you need to have a Google account. If you already have a gmail or a hotmail account then you are already half way there. You can sign up for one here -> GOOGLE ADSENSE SIGN UP
2. Information on how to create a blog account from Google -
Again Google's Blogger is free to anyone and they readily furnish the information on how to get an account. Again though you can use the same gmail or hotmail email account that you needed for point # 1 above. Check out the official blogger website from Google and get your new blog
3. They introduce you to Google Adsense Revenue forums (like Share your Expertise)
At these forums you submit your articles with your adsense code and you make money when people read your article and click on your google ads. Again these forums are free to join and you can join multiple forums. Some require you to have a minimum number of posts before you can start earning so make sure to read the FAQs and guidelines for each.
4. They offer you some SEO tips
Well it should go without saying that if no one finds your article or ads and they are never clicked, then you will never make money. So they share with you the importance of finding keyword rich content. They will then show you how to submit your articles to various search engines including the major ones like Google, Yahoo and MSN.
Go ahead and submit your web pages or urls right here:
Google Sumbit URL portal
Submit your Blog portal
Yahoo! Sumit URL portal
MSN Submit URL portal
Hopefully if the search robots like your content your article will end up high on the search results listing for the keywords you used. Once your article returns on the first page of lets say Google's search, people are apt to click on it, and then you make money when they click your ads.It does help though that the forum you posted your article on has a good alexa ranking so that it helps your article to return favourably high.
For example, on my networking and employment site I try to increase green consciousness and have a "SolarGreenEarth" network with a blog and articles that I write. If you type "green technology toys" into Google's search bar, one of my articles submitted here on ShareYourExpertise is returned as No. 2 and No. 3 on the search results (at least up to this morning!)
They also introduce you to traffic exchange programs which are not endorsed by Google Adsense, but they say that the programs are to be used to help improve your traffic rankings. You are better off entering into a link exchange with other websites and writing articles on highly trafficked forums like SYE!
5. They introduce you to Affiliate Marketing -
Affiliate Marketing is basically marketing someone else's product and receiving a commission for sales you generate for them. The only thing is that this information is readily available and free on the internet. Also affiliate programs for merchants are also generally free to join.
6. They get you to sign up with ClickBank or PayDotCom
ClickBank and PayDotCom are like affiliate centers. They have a marketplace where you find goods to promote and get a piece of code called an affiliate link or hop link. You write short ads or articles which you submit to forums or free classified sites and and include your links which are supposed to track your commissions revenue. So people read your article or ad, click your link and make a purchase which is processed from ClickBank and PayDotCom. These affiliate centers then credit the proceeds of the sale to the merchant whose product you promoted and will also pay you the affiliate your commission.
Here's the thing - these are all free sign ups and the information is readily available.
Sign up for ClickBank
Sign Up for PayDotCom
7. They introduce you to Adwords and other Pay Per Click (PPC) programs as a more lucrative option or method for making money
This is indeed true - PPC is more lucrative, it can also be a lot more risky if you do not know what you are doing. Because you can end up losing money in running ad campaigns and not making back what you put out.Again though there's a lot of information available on the internet on how to run a successful ad campaign but I must submit that sometimes when you start using PPC advertising you may have to suffer some losses up front in order to run test campaigns which you run to know which market is lucrative.Or you can do some research in market trends to determine which market and keywords are lucrative. You may need some guidance in this though especially if you are new to marketing and advertising. And as far as I know, no one truly reveals their secret or else their profit margins would be compromised.
Sign up for Adwords
(As you may have guessed, you can use the same google account - gmail or hotmail - that you used to sign up for Adsense or Blogger).
MY CONCLUSION:
Now you just got a ton load of information for free. Use this article as a spring board and continue to do some research and very soon you will have a program for yourself and be able to benefit from some passive income.
You can always feel free to check out my job board which can be accessed from my blog or from the NESSCreations (Networking and Employment Solutions Services) website. Just visit the site and click the various "Jobs" tabs that are available.
